About us Our programmes The Climate Dynamics group, led by Lesley Gray, Tim Woollings and Myles Allen, focuses on the fluid dynamics of the climate system, particularly the atmosphere, and aims to understand the physical mechanisms underlying the weather and climate events that impact us all. Within the Thames Valley, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH) provides specialist stroke care for patients requiring MT. In 2022, 223 MTs were carried out in Oxford. Across the Thames Valley it is estimated that 300-400 patients per year could benefit from MT. Theory We investigate fundamental theoretical questions related to Earth and planetary physics combining theory with computational modelling and experimental work. The Planetary Surfaces group, led by Neil Bowles, Carly Howett and Simon Calcutt, seeks to better understand the surface's of (typically airless) bodies in our solar system. At the heart of the building will be a 500-seat auditorium, which will make the Centre a major venue for arts and performance in the region, and indeed the UK. We have appointed Arup as a specialist acoustic consultant, and we are being advised by Michael Kaiser, the former Director of the Kennedy Centre. We are also talking to academics and students in the Music Faculty, as well as student societies like Oxford University Drama Society. New broadcasting and sound studios in the Schwarzman Centre will allow Oxford to share its insights with global audiences and better lend its voice to the most pressing conversations of the day. Spaces available How much interaction you’d like to engage in is a personal preference, however, we’ve included a few opportunities to support getting to know the other travellers. A welcome drink and dinner on the first night of each tour provide a perfect chance to connect from the get-go, and a farewell dinner during the final evening means you can reflect, celebrate and share stories with your new-found friends.
