Left with only enough inheritance to patch and repair the exterior of the house—and with the school’s dismal standardized test scores as a final straw—Greg’s mom steers the family toward moving, opening up house-hunting and house-selling storylines (and devastating loyal Rowley, who doesn’t want to lose his best friend). In making these friendships, standing up to her bullies, and getting to know her Dad, Frankie learns to accept her differences.

You guys were so fab and Dawn was such a lovely presence in the schools - I will absolutely be in touch next time I'm in your neck of the woods. I like that Frankie doesn’t quite fit in, I have definitely felt like that and her descriptions of saying things without thinking about them definitely sounds like me. This is a great debut from Aoife Dooley, recommended for anyone aged 8+ and especially young people who've just found out they're autistic. This is a witty, charming, fun and vibrant graphic novel which while aimed at the pre teen market will appeal to everyone who has ever felt a little bit lost or unsure in themselves.

I have even talked the head into a little revamp of the library so that we can display them properly!Similar to any young person who feels like they don't fit in, Frankie has to learn to recognise that her differences make her special, and that the world is a much better place for her, and her unique ways of seeing and interacting with the world. The story follows her as she navigates the difficulty of hospital visits, school, an annoying little sister, a sick mum, the end of primary school, and the hope of finding the father who she has never met. I know we’re only in the first half of January, Frankie’s World is definitely going to be on my list of 2022 favourites come December.
