Considering every new army so far has received a new Combat Patrol, this rumor is definitely possible. At the same time I want to take something that’s a bit unconventional — plus I think the model looks a lot better than the Darkshroud. On the plus side the Dark Angels look great, rocking dark green armour and cream robes create a distinct look for the chapter. Tellingly, they come with a Power Sword Intercessor arm, and a little backpack icon, yet the Intercessor Sergeant has the standard "bolter strapped, pistol out and up, checking my forearm screen" build. But then, when ready, you can go back to them, add in some chunky and standard highlights and, if you’re feeling brave, get some fine and spot highlights in there for extra definition.

I'd rather play against this than their current one of 3 flying bolters, a dread, a character and a 5 man intercessor squad. As the poster child of the hobby (especially the all blue Ultramarines) they need to be accessible, which they are. The main attraction of 40k is the miniatures, but there are also many video games, board games, books, ect. Now that we’ve added in some flavor to the list we need to go back and fill out some of our core options. The Dark Angels are the first legion and their Combat Patrol box is actually pretty generic for Space Marines. Finally, I want to add something that’s going to give us better chance at cracking open armor at range. In this series we’re going to revisit the older Combat Patrols, breakdown their points, and talk about where to build from that box.

It’s still got a little mobility with the faster elements and don’t be afraid to “deepstrike” in those Deathwing Terminators either. The Dark Angels are a dour brotherhood, characterised by their deep commitment to millennia-old rituals, loyalty, discipline, and self-sufficiency. It makes perfect sense from a GW point of view - keep the HQ out of the unit in combat patrol so you don't have a mini deathstar and have an extra independent piece and then also pushes the person moving on from combat patrol to get a gravis unit to escort the captain and leaves them open to any of the HQs to join the other squads. It is a new launch box with all the new Kroot stuff and two characters, and one is supposed to be a melee-focused Ethereal. None fight with more grim determination than the battle-brothers of the Dark Angels, and their renowned specialised companies – the Deathwing and the Ravenwing – are held in awe by their allies and enemies alike.

This list is designed to allow a new player to dabble with those options without hard committing to either.

During the Horus Heresy (a massive war between Space Marine chapters that remained loyal to the Emperor and those who became traitors and join Primarch Horus), the Dark Angels didn’t do what other chapters did and simply pick one side. Far more palatable to play against than the current incarnation and much better for a core force IMO. For flavor, we might sprinkle in a unit of Deathwing and Ravenwing each — but we’re not going to go hard in either direction. Haunted by their past, the Dark Angels and their successors – known collectively as the Unforgiven – wage a secret war for redemption, a millennia-long crusade of vengeance that will either lead to their final atonement… or eternal damnation. If this was a BA box with a new BA sprue instead of DA I'd probably pick it up and build a new fancy squad of intercessors with the new bling even though I have plenty of the basic old starter set guys. All we ask is the product still be in its original packaging and you have your proof of purchase and we'll be happy to help.

The old box really isn’t very exciting, but we’re not sure how much better the new one will be in terms of savings. The new upgrades do only come with the one wing, but have three pairs of Ravenwing symbols (for adding to the sides of bikes). When it comes to the Adeptus Astartes, or Space Marines, the Dark Angels are probably the most miserable. If you really want to push it a little bit further I’d recommend a Company Ancient for 75 points + wargear.Don’t forget you can carve-up this list as needed for any detachment requirements you might need to hit. According to the rumors, they will really build the line out with a bunch of new Kroot, some form of mounted models, and even a big gun to go along with it! However, these are pretty old models and could use a rework, and Kill Team is the perfect place to do it!
